SikaSpec
SikaSpec is the fast efficient way to create specifications for roofs and many other applications, providing two easy to online ways to create specifications; SikaSpec Basic and SikaSpec Pro. Once registered users can create, store, duplicate, modify and e-mail specifications to single or multiple recipients.
SikaSpec Basic
We do most of the work for you. Simply choose the roof construction, the method of attachment and the guarantee term and get a basic specification covering the deck, vcl, insulation and waterproofing membrane complete with preliminary items.
Sika Spec Pro
Through 8 simple steps Sika Spec Pro enables you to specify each element of the roof construction through a step by step process. At each step a range of options will appear guiding you through the selection process. Where the roofing components are not supplied by Sika-Trocal there is the option to specify a generic solution or select a preferred 'equal or approved' supplier. Sika Spec Pro even allows you to specify up to 3 different roof areas on the same building.
NBS Specification
Where an NBS Specification is required we recommend the initial completion in SikaSpec Pro, as the majority of the information we require to create an NBS Specification will be contained within this.
Part L Compliance
Roofing contractors should no longer be asked to price a project on the basis of ‘roofs to comply with Part L’ either on specifiers drawings or bills of quantity. As the thermal performance of the building design has to be considered as a whole the actual ‘U’ value the roof is required to achieve, or the insulation thickness should be clearly defined.
Thermally broken tube based fastening systems should always be used with the Sika-Trocal Disc System as this will reduce insulation thickness to achieve the required ‘U’ value. Rigid carbon steel fasteners will require a greater thickness of insulation to achieve the required thermal performance.
Always check if the thermal design and specification have been done on the basis of tube based fasteners, which generally they will have been, as the use of rigid one piece carbon steel fasteners will mean the required performance is not being achieved; potentially leaving liability for non compliance with the roofing contractor.
Products should not be marketing to you as being ‘Part L compliant’, as not one element or product can meet Part L without consideration of all the other elements that are likely to effect the energy performance of the building. There are many combinations of design that will affect the Building Emission rate.
Guarantees
Guarantees come in all shapes and sizes, often with the detail hidden in the small print. Sika-Trocal product guarantees cover 12, 15, 20 and 25 year durations subject to roofing system and membrane type, each with clear terms and conditions and maintenance requirements.

Installation Inspection
The Sika Roofing Applications Department consists of eleven Roofing Field Technicians each of which have a minimum of 5 years installation experience.
The Field Technicians are responsible for conducting the progress of a project and carrying out guarantee inspections.
Quality Management
To help ensure that every Sika-Trocal delivers the quality expected Sika-Trocal membranes are only supplied to Licensed Contractors trained by us. Each company has not only its installation staff trained at the Sika Training Academy in Welwyn Garden City, but also its office staff. This process aims to help ensure that the right materials are priced accurately, the wind uplift calculations completed and the installation completed on time to budget.
Upon completion of the project a member of Sika roofing’s Applications Department will conduct an inspection with the Licensed Contractor.
